That's amore

When perchance we do meet
'n my heart skips a beat, that's Amore
When I bring you fresh flowers
And woo you for hours and hours, that's Amore
When the moon starts to shine
Will you be my Valentine, Amore
Tell me dear, will you be my spouse
My one and only special mouse, Signore

Here's the classic Dean Martin of 'That's Amore"

It started with just a pair of old sneakers hanging on a nail with a mouse peeking out of the lower shoe - but quickly I imagined a more romantic composition - the title became obvious and the mini-verse followed - Kieran

That’s excellent. How have you'll been keeping? I was thinking of you both and just got busy with the grandkids. They were off this week so had them over. Full time work. (A friend on WhatsApp)

A little bit of ‘moonshine’ does wonders, at least that’s what a somewhat dodgy friend claims 😁 - Kieran

Absolutely Delightful! You have turned into not just a very creative painter but a romantic poet, too. Exceptional! (A friend on WhatsApp)

Now, now, careful what you say. My swollen head may not get past my front door - it’s only 3 feet wide. 🥸. Thanks for the props - Kieran

I have not seen such enchanting mice apart from the carol-singing fieldmice in 'The Wind in the Willows'. Simply adorable! 🤗😍🥰

Thanks, Zaheer. I only took it up in November 2024, one a day for the sheer joy of it. The rest is gravy - Kieran

Here's a quick overview of my artistic journey.

My inspiration came from a very accomplished artist who gave a keynote address at a luncheon hosted in honour of artists contributing to the Facebook group in September 2023 in Poona.

He matter-of-factly said, that all of us have talents, we just need to believe that and go with the flow. And told us to do at least one sketch or artwork each day. Before long, he promised you would find what gives you joy, and then the sky is the limit.

It took me a whole year to shake off my inertia and do that. The catalyst was an old forgotten paint box by an artist I found at a garage sale. The paint tubes were dry - rock hard but i could see the palette of colour used. Names like Payne's Grey, Alizarin Crimson, ultramarine blue, Phthalo Green, Burnt Sienna - and a whole lot that opened the door to vibrant water color paintings.

I was smitten, and attended a free 5-day online class hosted by a Russian artist each one hour long, this gave me the foundation on what paper and brushes to use, how to prep the paper prior to painting by spraying the back with a mist of water, learning wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry techniques etc.

150 daily paintings later i can say it was my mentors who helped get me here
