Dance

Dance like no one's watching - Kieran Gonsalves (c) 2025

Dare to dance like no one's watching you
Stop and smell the roses and lavender too
We all have two lives, but here's where starts the fun
The second begins when you realize you have only one
Even coffee needs milk and sugar to come alive
So mingle with opposites and let your spirit thrive
The rain falls both on the righteous and the rotten
Remember your roots, don’t forget the forgotten
You gotta live and let live, forget and forgive too
For you can’t take a U-Haul to Heaven with you

Footnote: Today’s artwork is dedicated to the Swedish Pop Group ABBA, whose youthful bubbly vibes and catchy tunes like ‘Dancing Queen and ‘Mamma Mia’ enthralled the Baby Boomer generation back in the ‘70s and ‘80s.

Almost a year ago, on 31st May 2024, ABBA (consisting of Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Reuss) were awarded Sweden’s prestigious Royal Order of Vasa at Stockholm's Royal Palace by  King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia.

The group was being recognized as “Commanders of the First Class” for their exceptional contributions to Swedish and international music.

The Royal Order of Vasa is one of Sweden’s oldest chivalric honours, established over 200 years ago. It is traditionally awarded for significant achievements in the arts, sciences, and public service. Although the order had been dormant since 1975, it was reactivated in 2022 following reforms to the Swedish honours system.

ABBA's global success began with their victory at the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest with “Waterloo.” Their enduring influence is evident through their record sales exceeding 400 million, the worldwide popularity of the “Mamma Mia!” musical and films, and their innovative virtual concert experience, ABBA Voyage, which premiered in London in 2022.

This is lovely, Kieran! The vibrant colours and the beautiful curves in the dancer's body, skirt, scarf, which so aptly depict the graceful art of dance...I love the delicacy of her head and hair...you should have a small exhibition...painting has really got "under your skin"! What a beautiful gift from the Holy Spirit! 🙏🏼😍🤩🤗 ( A dear friend on WhatsApp)

Thank you Naomi. The color scheme is my own. I smudged the splatter in the background to suggest movement - this technique is something new for me. So glad you liked it.
PS No exhibitions but happy to upload to my blog https://kieranart.blogspot.com
God bless
Kieran
