Playing in the rain
Playing in the Rain
Original artwork and whimsical poem by Kieran Gonsalves (c) 2025
Oh, the childhood memories of playing in the pouring rain.
Drenched to the bone, shivering with cold, let’s do it again.
Bravely commanding the Black Pearl, loaded with pirate loot.
Craftily dodging the Spanish Armada that’s in hot pursuit.
A sudden clap of thunder added to the sense of urgency.
No quarters asked, none given; so show no clemency!
‘Unleash the Kraken, ’ I command with an air of authority,
‘Teach the scallawag Spaniards a lesson in superiority!’
‘Batten down the hatches, matey, ’ I shout into the gale,
‘Heave ho to Starboard, into deep waters we shall sail. ’
