Change

 Change is the only constant

Original artwork and pensive poem by Kieran Gonsalves (c) 2025

This was once the stomping grounds of the dinosaurs, now only fossils.
Fierce predators that ruled for millions of years over dales and hills.

All that changed when a massive asteroid slammed into Earth - Kaboom!
Nothing lasts forever, does it? The climate change spelled their doom

For decades, this mighty Oak stood tall and proud through thunderstorms
Now new seedlings spring up to fill the vacuum as the land transforms

_Change is the only constant_, so try to be adaptable not too conservative
As one gets older it becomes harder to do so but it beats the alternative

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Try it and if it’s not your thing, that’s okay. That’s my stance. - Kieran

Lovely painting. Totally agree that Change is the only constant. What a choice of words. Really impressed. 👌👌👌 (WhatsApp comment on my school alumni group)

Thanks, Sanjeev. The artwork was constructed to practice ‘values’ - the lightness or darkness of a color (blue skies, green branches, brown tree trunk and yellow meadow in this case), ranging from the white of the paper to the darkest mix of pigment - that is appealing to the eye.
Once the painting was done, I wrote the poem focusing on the fallen oak tree. - Kieran
