In the Fog

 In the fog

Artwork and original poem by Kieran Gonsalves (c) 2025

Not much stirs on a cold winter morning on these misty hills.
The thick fog lies heavy like a damp blanket, sending chills.

On the ridge, a virile Mule buck cautiously sticks out its head.
Its impressive rack of antlers, his calling card, signals dread.

It's rutting season, so the buck jealously guards the deer in esterus
Younger bucks watch from afar, eager to see if they can be prosperous

Sadly, a hunter in camouflage and a high-powered scope becomes restive
Isn't it cold-blooded murder? Shoot with a camera, live and let live.

Minimalism needs that very fine balance between detail and imagination… glad you liked it. - Kieran

Still dabbling in getting the right balance between detail and imagination… but I love the challenge of minimalism - Kieran

I absolutely agree! Shooting like that is cowardly and cruel... it's for the joy of killing...😢 (WhatsApp comment from a dear relative)

Sad that they are so insecure as to project their masculinity by cold blooded murder of an innocent animal. - Kieran
