Not ready to be cast aside

Not ready to be cast aside

Artwork and pensive poem by Kieran Gonsalves (c) 2025, food for thought

This world seems to be in a hurry, even if it doesn't know where it's headed.

"Full speed ahead, out with the old and in with the new", so say the hotheaded.

Having run the proverbial race, it is notions like this that seem a tad outdated.

Take Delft ceramics, for instance, a timeless work of art, elegant 'n understated

Hand-painted when craftsmen deftly wielded the brush, breathing life into ceramic

The pears, too, seem past their prime, but that's when you think of a new dynamic

Look beyond the texture, and you find a lucious flavour enhanced with wee sweetness

If you don't know how to appreciate it, then all you end up seeing is obsoleteness

The Japanese tradition of _Keirō_, calls for respect for elders in their silver years.

To learn from their wisdom and experience, joys and sorrows, laughter and tears!
