Lady On The Bluff

 Lady On The Bluff

Original artwork and whimsical poem by Kieran Gonsalves (c) 2026

There she is again, from whence she came, nobody knows. None dare ask her.
Impeccably dressed in white silk, she lovingly scans the seas for her monsieur!

They say he left her stranded at the altar, left to answer a distress call.
"Duty calls", he whispered softly, picked his gear, headed into the squall!

That was two moons ago, the villagers moved on with their lives, but not she!
Like someone pressed 'pause' and she is waiting to press 'play' on the scree

She swears she can hear his voice call her on the wind, saying he'll be home!
She knows he's trying to reach her and looks for hidden messages in the foam…

Thanks Germaine. Not sure even Freud would know where the verse came from, but once the artwork was done, the words just flowed … Kieran

That's a lovely poem....πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ And painting too..Also reminds me of "She dwelt amongst the untrodden ways..." by Wordsworth..
In a good way...
A sense of occasion, a hint of pathos, a longing defined, a wait unending... (WhatsApp comment from an artistic friend)

I swear I am reading the word scree after middle school! I [have to] mention Daphne du Maurier and The French Lieutenant's Woman.. Interestingly, even Daphne du Maurier's book called Frenchman's Creek. Something about Frenchman and water and romance and mystery 🧑 (WhatsApp comment from a alumnus of my B school)

Then you need to start writing poetry πŸ˜… I loved the French Lieutenant's Woman movie especially Meryl Streep’s performance. Can’t think of any role she hasn’t nailed - Kieran

Tragic! Especially on Republic Day today … many don’t realize the ultimate sacrifice soldiers make. They (not politicians) are the true heroes - Kieran
